Bosch 4100-09 Review
Now the Bosch 4100-09 is just one of the models in Bosch’s job site portable range of saws. The 4100 is the saw on its own (which is also available separately if you would like to mount this on your own base). the -09 indicates that this is the saw and the Gravity-Rise Wheeled Stand package, which is what we’ll be looking at today.

The innovative gravity rise stand really is a great bit of kit, It really comes in to its own if you need a saw that needs to move around your home workshop or you need to get it onto the work site and your vehicle will only go so far. With the saw still attached, the base will fold down and allow you to easily wheel the saw around. once you have got it to the right location, it folds out in seconds allowing you start working. The gravity rise stand weighs in at a very respectable 39lb’s which I feel is good compromise, light enough to be maneuverable but heavy enough to give the saw the stability that it needs.
The table is made from precision machined aluminium. which is what you would expect from these types of saws. The weight needs to be kept down to allow it to be portable and aluminium is the best material for the job. the Bosch 4100-09 offers a table size of 29″ x 21.5″ which is a good size. It gives a maximum ripping capacity of 25″ which is what we need to be able to rip a full size sheet of ply down the middle.
The fence is good, it runs smooth adjusts easily and clamps square. It doesn’t come as standard but it is possible to purchase an easy to read digital measuring display for the fence (part No. DC010)
As you come to expect with these types of table saw, It has a 15 Amp brush motor, it generates a max of 4HP and spins at a max of 3650 RPM, This means that you will get great clean cuts from the saw. for some jobs some may think that this saw is a little under powered, but I think for 95% of people who choose the 4100-09, it’ll be absolutely fine..
Internal Mechanisms & Electronics
The Bosch 4100-09 is a little special as It features soft start control and “Constant Response Electronics” This enables the saw to maintain a constant speed under load. The saw allows for bevel cuts between -2 and 47 degrees. You will also be able to make dado cuts up to 13/16 “.
As is always the case with these saws. The blade that is supplied always leaves a lot to be desired. You can’t really blame Bosch as all manufacturers seem to do it. You will probably find that the supplied blade will be great for a bit but will dull quite quickly. Do yourself a favour, throw it out and get yourself one of the great Freud blades. The Bosch 4100-09 features the standard 5/8″ arbor size so you won’t struggle to find the perfect blade for you
The Bosch 4100-09 comes with a very clever guard system. It is designed to be completely tool free. The cover is a clear plastic which is makes for safer cuts as you have better visibility of your cuts. the device has a built in riving knife, blade guard and anti kickback system.
The Bosch 4100 is a great saw from a great manufacturer. Bosch have always produced good quality tools and this is no exception. although slightly heavier than some table saws in this class. the size of the table, allowing for good ripping capacity really is a great thing to have. The gravity rise base and transport system is a very clever bit of engineering and the safety aspects of the blade/riving knife assemble have really been well thought through.
Here is a great review of the Bosch 4100-09 if you want to have a closer look
